Welcome to

Agribusiness

Transform to create value

From agricultural economics to agribusiness

From an economics specialization to a full major

From a single major to an integrated dual major

From a standard program to a partially English-taught program

GOAL

The Agribusiness program equips learners with global knowledge, skills, and competencies to excel in Vietnam’s increasingly challenging agri-food sector, faced with climate change and international competition. Students gain foundational knowledge in economic analysis, business law, and global issues related to agriculture, along with specialized knowledge in agribusiness management, marketing, agricultural market research, supply chains and export of agricultural products, finance and investment projects in agriculture. They also develop a full range of skills, including research, critical thinking, innovative, problem-solving, effective communication and teamwork, time management, information technology, and foreign languages. Additionally, students are trained to cultivate independence, adaptability, integrity, responsibility for sustainable social development, and a commitment to lifelong learning.

Notably, the Agribusiness program is uniquely designed to provide students with the opportunity to pursue Integrated Dual-Major programs by sharing several core courses with the School of International Business and Marketing at UEH College of Business. This integrated structure allows students to expand their career prospects by easily enrolling in a second major, such as International Business or Logistics and Supply Chain Management — fields that align well with today’s global economy. Consequently, students can complete both degrees within four academic years, creating a competitive edge in both domestic and international labor markets. This flexible approach not only enhances students’ expertise in agribusiness but also equips them with a diverse skill set applicable across multiple fields, enabling graduates to adapt readily in an ever-evolving business environment.

My name is Vân Lê Duy Hoàng, a member of the Class of 2021 in the Agribusiness program at UEH University. I am currently enrolled in the integrated dual-major program with Logistics and Supply Chain Management. I believe this is an excellent program because the knowledge gained from both fields complements each other. Through this integrated dual-major, I have further developed skills such as time management, adaptability, collaboration, and stress management. Additionally, I have made many friends from both schools. I am very happy to share my experiences about this program with prospective students.

My name is Thái Thủy Tiên, a member of the Class of 2020 specializing in Agricultural Economics and Business at UEH University – Vinh Long Campus. I was the valedictorian upon both entering and graduating from UEH – Vinh Long Campus. I have found that the training quality at Vinh Long is fully up to standard, just like at the main campus. Therefore, in my final academic year, I completely integrated into my studies with fellow students at the main campus during the Campus rotation program. After receiving my Bachelor’s degree in Economics with a concentration in Agricultural Economics and Business, I passed the recruitment exam for lecturers at UEH – Vinh Long Campus. Currently, I am a teaching assistant for the Sustainable Development course and am enrolled in the master’s program at ISB. I am ready to share my experiences about this program with those interested in studying at UEH – Vinh Long Campus. Email: tientt@ueh.edu.vn.

Our great thanks
to the predecessors

The Agribusiness program is one of the oldest and most traditional fields at the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH). It originated from the Department of Agricultural Economics and Rural Development, which played a significant role in formulating socio-economic development policies during the period of 1976-1993 and training numerous agricultural management officials for the country. This department was one of the two that formed the Department of Development Economics (1993-2013) and the School of Economics (2013 to present).

Those who laid the foundation for Agribusiness.

We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to Assoc. Prof. Dr. Đào Công Tiến, who laid a solid foundation for the Agricultural Economics and Rural Development program. We would also like to extend our special appreciation to Assoc. Prof. Dr. Trần Tiến Khai, a pioneer in the transition and a passionate supporter of the shift towards the Agribusiness. Their contributions are immensely meaningful and highly valued.
